Just checked the hives at home – STILL having Queen problems.

Hive 2 has gone Queenless again, and has drone layers, so I took a frame of eggs from hive 5 to put in there. This will hopefully suppress the drone layers, and they will make a couple of emergency Queen cells from the young larvae, but I doubt it.

I will probably have to shake them out and then combine them with a 6 frame nuc I have, that is quite strong. This way, I will have a stronger colony to over-winter with.

Looks like I’ll only be getting honey from two hives out of 5 (and a nuc), and not a very good amount either, as I’ll need to leave the bees some to see them over the winter.
