I bagged myself a bargain on eBay yesterday, and it has just arrived. A nice 27 litre capacity electric wax melter, that can also take a 30lb bucket to soften or re-liquify honey. It is virtually identical to the well known Kochstar wax melter, and is sold at a similar price.
It is usually on sale for £138/€145, and I got it for £52 just because the temperature control knob is missing and it has a 2 pin Euro plug. I have ordered a new knob from eBay for £1.99 and will simply cut off the Euro plug and replace it with a 3 pin UK plug.
These wax melters are really jam/preserve pots, but are excellent for rendering beeswax, as well as softening or re-liquifying honey.
I have several frames with old wax in, and some unclean melted wax to do, so could not have come at a better time.
it makes a change for me to get something at a knock-down price, so I’m very happy.
