I’m thinking that it was time I entered my hive products in the honey show, so am currently cleaning 2lbs of wax to make some 8oz and 1oz blocks for part of my entry.

One old crock-pot with 1 litre of filtered, pre-boiled water

One new kitchen cloth to support the wax and assist in the filtering process

The cloth is secured with thick rubber bands

A couple of sheets of kitchen paper to fine filter the wax

A 2 pound cake of pre-rendered wax for further cleaning

Lid on, plugged in and switched on, leave for a few hours…..

Now to sit back and see how it comes out, this is the first time I have attempted to clean wax properly, I usually just clean out the big stuff and pour the molten wax through a steel mesh sieve into a bucket to cool and leave it at that.

I’ll post later, showing the result…
